In response, China has introduced the Joint Management of Forest Land between State-Owned Forest Farms and Communities (SOFFs-CJM) model, which aims to strengthen CF governance and foster the revitalization of traditional forest regions. The key to the success of this model lies in incentivizing the active participation of SOFFs. Grounded in institutional theory, this study conducts an empirical analysis of SOFFs’ joint operation decisions using data from 187 forest farms across four provinces—Fujian, Jiangxi, Guangxi, and Zhejiang. Logit models, mediation effect models, and moderation effect models are integrated to examine the decision-making behavior of SOFFs. The results show that: (1) coercive pressure, mimetic pressure, and normative pressure all positively influence SOFFs to engage in joint management with communities, with coercive pressure exerting the most significant impact. (2) Organizational legitimacy plays a mediating role in the relationship between institutional pressures and the decision-making of SOFFs. Specifically, institutional pressures indirectly affect joint management decisions through performance legitimacy, task legitimacy, and value legitimacy. (3) The management system and nature of SOFFs moderate the impact of institutional pressures on joint management decisions. County-owned SOFFs enhance the influence of mimetic pressure on joint management decisions and weaken the impact of normative pressure, while corporate-owned SOFFs reduce the influence of coercive pressure and normative pressure. (4) Coercive pressure and normative pressure have a complementary effect on joint management decisions, and normative pressure has an inverted-U-shaped relationship with joint management decisions. Therefore, the government can promote the participation of SOFFs in community forestry by improving coercive pressure, appropriately guiding normative pressure, enhancing mimetic pressure, and designing differentiated policies based on the management system and nature of the forest farms.","社会经济转型对社区森林（CF）管理的有效性提出了新的挑战。 ,null,"Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems","2026-08-31T00:00:00Z","论文",10,false,74
"needs_review","2026-10-22.2","rules
"W7204787217",[46,49
Shuqiang Li","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3290-5416
Suliman Almojel",0,"https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/sustainable-food-systems/articles/10.3389/fsufs.2026.1842842/pdf
,"openalex","2026-09-01T23:30:07.502183Z
[63
4562,"Readiness and resistance : institutional adaptation of REDD+ and climate-smart agriculture in Indigenous communities of Oaxaca, Mexico","https://doi.org/10.14288/1.0456557","The effectiveness of conservation initiatives in Indigenous territories depends not only on their technical design but also on how they interact with existing governance systems, institutions, livelihoods, and relationships. Despite growing recognition of Indigenous governance in conservation, limited attention has been given to how community institutions shape readiness and resistance to external interventions and influence their adaptation. This dissertation examines these intersections through the implementation of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) and associated Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices in four Indigenous communities of Oaxaca, Mexico. Using a comparative case-study approach, the research engaged 73 participants, including community authorities, farmers, local leaders, REDD+ representatives, and implementing organizations. The study used semi-structured interviews, focus groups, household surveys, countryside visits, and community validation to examine participation in REDD+, Indigenous Governance Mechanisms, and the adaptation of conservation agriculture, agroforestry, and silvopastoral practices. The findings show that Indigenous communities were not passive recipients of REDD+ but active agents who evaluated, negotiated, adapted, or resisted interventions according to community priorities and governance processes. Readiness and resistance emerged not as opposing outcomes, but as interconnected expressions of the same governance process. Indigenous Governance Mechanisms, including the Community Assembly, Cargo system, Tequio, Guzona, and Descargo, mediated collective decision-making, responsibilities, accountability, and the legitimacy of external interventions. Conservation practices were more likely to persist when they aligned with community institutions, livelihoods, knowledge, and socio-ecological conditions; where this institutional fit was weak, participation became selective, temporary, or resistant. This dissertation contributes a governance-based understanding of conservation adaptation by showing that institutional compatibility is constructed through negotiation rather than secured through technical design alone. It also identifies sustained relationality among communities, institutions, territory, knowledge, and collective responsibilities as a condition that extends beyond formal collaboration. Therefore, the research reframes Indigenous readiness and resistance as expressions of adaptive governance and argues for conservation approaches that are co-developed through, rather than imposed upon, the institutions that already sustain community life and territorial management.","保护举措在原住民领地中的有效性不仅取决于其技术设计，还取决于它们如何与现有治理体系、制度、生计和关系互动。 ,"Open Collections","2026-10-09T00:00:00Z",68
"classified
93,101,107,113
"I1",11,true,[98],"smart agriculture",[98],[
3,[],[105],"conservation agriculture",[
"W7221163310",[126
Neftalí Hernández Martínez
