Despite growing recognition of Indigenous governance in conservation, limited attention has been given to how community institutions shape readiness and resistance to external interventions and influence their adaptation. This dissertation examines these intersections through the implementation of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) and associated Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices in four Indigenous communities of Oaxaca, Mexico. Using a comparative case-study approach, the research engaged 73 participants, including community authorities, farmers, local leaders, REDD+ representatives, and implementing organizations. The study used semi-structured interviews, focus groups, household surveys, countryside visits, and community validation to examine participation in REDD+, Indigenous Governance Mechanisms, and the adaptation of conservation agriculture, agroforestry, and silvopastoral practices. The findings show that Indigenous communities were not passive recipients of REDD+ but active agents who evaluated, negotiated, adapted, or resisted interventions according to community priorities and governance processes. Readiness and resistance emerged not as opposing outcomes, but as interconnected expressions of the same governance process. Indigenous Governance Mechanisms, including the Community Assembly, Cargo system, Tequio, Guzona, and Descargo, mediated collective decision-making, responsibilities, accountability, and the legitimacy of external interventions. Conservation practices were more likely to persist when they aligned with community institutions, livelihoods, knowledge, and socio-ecological conditions; where this institutional fit was weak, participation became selective, temporary, or resistant. This dissertation contributes a governance-based understanding of conservation adaptation by showing that institutional compatibility is constructed through negotiation rather than secured through technical design alone. It also identifies sustained relationality among communities, institutions, territory, knowledge, and collective responsibilities as a condition that extends beyond formal collaboration. Therefore, the research reframes Indigenous readiness and resistance as expressions of adaptive governance and argues for conservation approaches that are co-developed through, rather than imposed upon, the institutions that already sustain community life and territorial management.","保护举措在原住民领地中的有效性不仅取决于其技术设计，还取决于它们如何与现有治理体系、制度、生计和关系互动。 ,null,"Open Collections","2026-10-09T00:00:00Z","论文",10,false,68
"classified","2026-10-22.2","rules
44,52,58,64
"I1",11,true,[49],"smart agriculture",[49],[
3,[],[56],"conservation agriculture",[
"W7221163310",[77
Neftalí Hernández Martínez",0
6,[92,204,272,341,390,438
3156,"Climate Adaptation and Sustainable Agriculture in Africa: Strategies for Food Security","https://doi.org/10.56201/ijgem.vol.11.no2.2025.pg8.32","This study investigates the role of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) and agroecology in enhancing agricultural resilience and food security in the face of climate change in Africa. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, case studies, and policy frameworks, the research explores how these adaptive strategies are being implemented across the continent and assesses their effectiveness. The findings reveal that while CSA techniques—such as droughtresistant crop varieties, water-efficient irrigation, and soil management practices—offer tangible benefits to agricultural productivity and resilience, their widespread adoption remains constrained by limited access to finance, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient extension services. Similarly, agroecological approaches, including crop diversification, agroforestry, and organic farming, have proven successful in fostering sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing biodiversity, yet face significant challenges from prevailing agricultural policies and institutional frameworks that favor large-scale industrial agriculture. The study recommends scaling up the adoption of CSA and agroecology by improving access to financing, technology, and farmer training programs. It also advocates for policy reforms that support agroecological practices and climate adaptation, as well as increased investment in research and development. Additionally, fostering multi-stakeholder collaborations, including public-private partnerships, is critical to overcoming institutional barriers and ensuring the effective implementation of climate adaptation strategies. The conclusion underscores the need for integrated policy frameworks that combine the strengths of CSA and agroecology to build a resilient, sustainable, and food-secure agricultural sector in Africa. By addressing both environmental and socioeconomic challenges, these strategies can significantly contribute to combating the impacts of climate change on African agriculture, ensuring long-term food security and sustainable development.","本研究探讨了气候智能型农业（Climate-Smart Agriculture, CSA）和农业生态学在增强非洲农业应对气候变化韧性和粮食安全方面的作用。 ,"IIARD negatively impacting the global community and local communities in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. Extreme weather events are occurring more frequently, posing a threat to human lives and well-being. Climate change-induced disasters have exacerbated the risks of hunger and under nutrition through reduced yields of agricultural crops. The detrimental effects of climate change are particularly seen in Zimbabwe. It is best to use climate-smart agriculture (CSA) in the smallholder agricultural sector, which produces the majority of the nation's food. Therefore, it is important to learn lessons from past events and manage risks effectively as part of an integrated set of interventions directed at mitigating the harmful impacts of disasters and risks. The research explores community adaptation and coping strategies in addressing the effects of climate change on food security using Marondera District as a case study. The research was conducted using the qualitative research methodology. Data were collected from a population of 50 people that included smallscale farmers, Agritex officers, extension officers, non-governmental organisation (NGO) representatives, village herdsman and the chief. Documentary research was analysed thematically. The research concludes that climate change has had a negative impact on food security. It affected all the four dimensions of food security, that is; food availability, food accessibility, food utilisation and food systems stability. In response, various projects aimed at ensuring community resilience to cope in the face of climatological hazards have been implemented by NGOs, government institutions and other actors, with community members being key stakeholder. The research recommends continued mobilisation of social protection interventions, building of resilient agricultural systems to make them more resilient to climate change and improving the management of the environment to ensure effectiveness in efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change on food security.","气候变化正在对全球社会以及南部非洲发展共同体（SADC）区域的当地社区产生负面影响。 ,"Ngenani The Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti Journal of Community Engagement and Societal Transformations",54
[290
[294,298,302,307,313,317
[131],[109,131],[109
[56],[],[
7,[],[143,145],[286
"G2",[],[311],"smallholder",[285
[],[49],[
"W7223010488",[329,332
Irony Mazuruse","https://orcid.org/0009-0007-5600-7825
Judith Chokumanyara","https://orcid.org/0009-0000-7386-9960
,"2026-10-21T23:30:08.757283Z
5155,"Greening the economy and TVET in Ethiopia: policy, practice, and skills for sustainable transformation – a viewpoint","https://doi.org/10.1080/09614524.2026.2744299","Ethiopia has positioned itself as one of Africa’s leading countries in promoting a climate-resilient green economy through policy reform, renewable energy expansion, sustainable agriculture, and greening technical and vocational education and training (TVET). Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS), developed through generations of interaction between communities and local agroecosystems, offer context-specific approaches that align closely with the principles of regenerative agriculture. This review synthesizes evidence from 37 publications examining the contribution of IKS to sustainable crop production across Southern Africa. Particular attention is given to soil health, soil biological activity, water-use efficiency, ecological pest regulation, crop productivity, and climate resilience. The synthesis demonstrates that indigenous regenerative practices, including organic soil amendments, residue retention, crop diversification, intercropping, agroforestry, water harvesting, and botanical pest management, improve soil organic carbon, enhance microbial activity, increase water retention, and stabilize yields under climatic stress. Evidence further indicates that indigenous pest management strategies frequently maintain pest populations below economic injury thresholds, thereby reducing dependence on synthetic pesticides while supporting ecosystem services. The review highlights the convergence between IKS, agroecology, integrated pest management, conservation agriculture, and regenerative agriculture, and proposes pathways for integrating indigenous ecological indicators into decision-support systems, crop models, and precision agriculture technologies. Despite growing recognition of indigenous knowledge within sustainability and climate adaptation agendas, significant gaps remain in quantitative validation, longitudinal assessment, and integration into formal agricultural research and policy frameworks. The findings demonstrate that Indigenous Knowledge Systems constitute a scientifically credible and economically viable foundation for regenerative agriculture and contribute directly to Sustainable Development Goals 2 (Zero Hunger), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 13 (Climate Action), and 15 (Life on Land). Strengthening the integration of indigenous and scientific knowledge systems will be essential for building resilient, productive, and sustainable agricultural systems across Southern Africa and the broader Global South.","摘要 南部非洲的农业生产日益受到气候变异性、土壤肥力下降、水资源短缺、生物多样性丧失和病虫害压力上升的制约，这在雨养小农耕作系统中尤为突出。 ,"Discover Sustainability","2026-10-08T00:00:00Z",75
[459
"生态保护与生物多样性","/topic/environment/biodiversity
[465,470,475,479,484,491,497,501,507
[467],"regenerative agriculture",[455,56,467],[455
[],[161,162],[454
[],[144,482],"climate resilience",[453
"W7220943031",[520
Albert Thembinkosi Modi","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6887-1721
