This region serves as a critical buffer against the southward expansion of the Sahara, yet it faces unprecedented land degradation. This study employed a systematic review methodology aligned with PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta Analyses) guidelines. Empirical evidence was synthesized from 68 peer-reviewed articles, technical reports, and satellite-based studies published between 2000 and 2024. Databases searched included Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, African Journals Online (AJOL), and government repositories. Findings indicate an alarming acceleration of forest loss and desert encroachment. Annual deforestation rates are estimated between 2.5% and 4.0%, significantly higher than the national average of 0.6% to 1.0%. Key drivers include the conversion of woodlands to subsistence agriculture, unsustainable exploitation of forest resources for biomass energy, demographic pressures, and climatic variability. The consequences are profound, threatening food systems, water security, biodiversity, and livelihoods. Deforestation and desertification constitute critical barriers to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land), with severe downstream effects on SDGs 1, 2, 3, 6, and 16. Effective reversal of these trends requires an integrated, SDG-aligned approach centered on sustainable land management (SLM), climate-smart agriculture (CSA), clean energy adoption, and inclusive governance frameworks.","尼日利亚西北部地处脆弱的苏丹—萨赫勒生态带，正经历一场以森林砍伐和荒漠化协同作用为特征的加速环境危机。 ,null,"IIARD INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT","2026-09-16T00:00:00Z","论文",10,false,80,{"impact":17,"substance":18,"depth":17,"authority":19,"freshness":20,"relevant":21,"comment":22},18,22,13,9,1,"基于68篇文献的PRISMA系统综述，量化了尼日利亚西北部毁林与荒漠化速率及其对SDGs的威胁，数据扎实、结论可靠，对干旱区生态治理与农业可持续发展有参考价值。",[24],{"name":10,"url":6},[26,27,28,29,30,31],"气候智慧农业","遥感监测","荒漠化防治","毁林治理","可持续土地管理","SDG15",0,"10.56201\u002Fijgem.vol.12.no2.2026.pg151.158",{"doi":33,"openalex_id":35,"authors":36,"venue":10,"cited_by_count":32,"oa_url":9,"card":39,"direction":45,"ingested_from":46},"W7213238638",[37],{"name":38,"orcid":9},"F.U.
