However, differences in normalization procedures, criterion treatment, and aggregation mechanisms can lead to variations in the resulting preference structures. This study proposes a new MCDM method, namely total evaluation based on knowledge-driven normalized optimization (TEKNO), which integrates normalization, relative evaluation, criterion weighting, optimization-based normalization, and total evaluation into a unified decision-making framework. The proposed method is designed to transform heterogeneous decision information into comparable evaluation values while preserving the relative contribution of each criterion. The applicability of TEKNO is evaluated through two decision-making case studies involving new store location selection and leasing customer selection. The evaluation framework includes ranking analysis, comparison with established MCDM methods, Spearman rank correlation analysis, and sensitivity analysis under variations in criterion weights. The results show that TEKNO achieves a Spearman rank correlation coefficient of 1.0000 for the new store location case and 0.9964 for the leasing customer selection case, indicating very strong agreement with the reference rankings. In addition, the ranking remains unchanged across the tested sensitivity scenarios, demonstrating the stability of TEKNO under variations in criterion weights. These findings indicate that TEKNO provides a transparent, systematic, and stable alternative for MCDM applications for practical decision support where reliable ranking, methodological transparency, and robustness across alternative evaluation conditions are required. The study uses 20 student samples and five assessment criteria: field-specific competence (C1), internship experience (C2), communication skills (C3), digital literacy (C4), and English language proficiency (C5). Each criterion is assigned a weight based on its relative importance. The TOPSIS method involves decision matrix construction, normalization, weighted normalization, determination of positive and negative ideal solutions, distance calculation, and preference value calculation. The results show that Y11 achieved the highest preference value of 0.8296, followed by Y6 (0.7951), Y19 (0.7274), Y5 (0.7116), and Y2 (0.6999), while Y9 obtained the lowest preference value of 0.3112. Based on the classification results, 1 student (5%) was categorized as Highly Ready, 5 students (25%) as Ready, 12 students (60%) as Moderately Ready, and 2 students (10%) as Not Ready. This study examined the association between vegetation greenness, represented by NDVI, and monthly concentrations of particulate matter (PM 10 and PM 2.5 ), and NO 2 in the MRC and MRP, São Paulo State, Brazil, from 2019 to 2025. Pollutant and meteorological data were obtained from CETESB AQMS, and NDVI was derived from Sentinel-2 imagery in Google Earth Engine within 100, 250, 500, and 1000 m buffers around each AQMS. Associations were assessed using Spearman correlations, LOWESS smoothing, Mann–Whitney U tests, and multiple linear regression models adjusted for meteorological variables and temporal fixed effects. NDVI was predominantly negatively correlated with pollutant concentrations, with coefficients ranging from − 0.24 to − 0.83 for PM 10 , − 0.17 to − 0.82 for PM 2.5 , and − 0.31 to − 0.75 for NO 2 . Seasonal patterns were evident, with higher pollutant concentrations and lower NDVI values during the dry season. In adjusted regression models, significant negative NDVI associations were mainly observed in MRP, particularly for PM 10 at 100–250 m, PM 2.5 at 100–500 m, and NO 2 at 100–500 m, whereas most associations in MRC were non-significant. PM 10 and NO 2 concentrations were significantly higher in MRP than in MRC, whereas PM 2.5 showed no significant regional difference. These findings suggest that urban greenness is associated with air quality patterns in a context-dependent manner, reinforcing the need to account for spatial scale, seasonality, and local land use conditions in GI planning. The current study evaluated the effect of anthropogenic activities on LULC change using a mixed methodology research design comprising remote sensing and a socioeconomic survey. The study involved 100 households selected through appropriate sampling procedures, as well as purposively selected key informants comprising 5 local leaders, 8 land management officers, and 1 District Environmental Officer. The combination of geospatial analysis and socioeconomic information enabled the study to comprehensively assess the patterns, drivers, and effects of human activities on LULC change. Image processing revealed that the percentage of built-up cover increased from 4% to 18%, while forest and natural vegetation decreased between 2015 and 2025. Moreover, croplands remained the dominant land cover. Population pressure (4.36 ± 0.78) and settlement development (4.28 ± 0.83) were the leading anthropogenic activities that triggered LULC change in the study area. Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis showed a positive relationship between human activities and land cover change. In particular, the study found that settlement development (r = 0.91) and population pressure (r = 0.88) had the greatest impact on LULC change. The study also found that 92% of the variations in built-up and 89% of the variation in vegetation changes were explained by the model. This study aimed to develop raspberry-flavoured jelly candies with natural components such as black carrot concentrate and raspberry puree, using a pectin–gelatin gelling system. Methods To investigate the role of matrix composition, the dry matter content (87.2–92.7%) and the pH level (3.00–3.53) were systematically varied. The newly formulated candies were characterized in terms of physicochemical, optical, structural, thermal, and functional properties. To identify the most suitable packaging system for the developed candies, the thermal, mechanical, and barrier properties of three packaging films (white metallized BOPP, orange BOPP\u002FLDPE, and transparent PET\u002FLDPE) were investigated. Results and discussion The results revealed that the dry matter content and packaging light-shielding ability were the two dominant factors governing the product quality. Increasing the dry matter to 92.7% significantly lowered water activity to 0.72–0.74, raised the glass transition temperature (51 °C–53 °C), increased matrix hardness and antioxidant activity. The opaque white and orange films provided critical light-shielding that kept color changes minimal (Δ E * ≤ 2.36), whereas the transparent film allowed severe photograph-oxidative color degradation (Δ E * > 3). Furthermore, the white film’s aluminium layer successfully minimized moisture migration by achieving the lowest water vapor permeability coefficient ( P = 9.2 × 10 –10 g\u002F(g · atm · cm 2 · s)).
