Using cross-sectional primary data collected from 320 smallholder sweet potato farming households in Osun and Kwara States through a two-stage sampling procedure, the study accounted for heterogeneous awareness exposure and actual adoption behavior. The Heckman probit selection model was employed to distinguish between awareness exposure and adoption conditional on awareness, while the Endogenous Treatment Effect (ETE) and Inverse-Probability-Weighted Regression Adjustment (IPWRA) models were used to estimate the income effects of OFSP adoption while correcting for potential endogeneity and selection bias. The findings showed that awareness exposure was significantly influenced by age, marital status, household size, and membership in farmer associations, whereas adoption conditional on awareness was significantly associated with education, farming experience, and access to credit. Descriptively, OFSP adopters reported more favorable perceptions of the technology’s productivity, climate resilience, and nutritional benefits than non-adopters. Both ETE and IPWRA estimates further indicated that OFSP adoption had a positive and significant effect on household income. The study concludes that awareness and adoption are distinct stages influenced by different factors. Policies aimed at promoting OFSP adoption should therefore strengthen targeted information dissemination, extension support, farmer education, and access to credit to enhance adoption, household income, food security, nutrition, and rural livelihoods.","本研究考察了信息接触在橙肉甘薯（Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato, OFSP）技术采纳中的作用及其对尼日利亚小农户甘薯种植家庭收入的影响。 ,null,"Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems","2026-09-24T00:00:00Z","论文",10,false,73
"W7214099591",[40,43,45,47
Adetomiwa Kolapo","https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0808-1293
Melusi Sibanda
Nolwazi Z. Specifically, the study examined farmers' knowledge and use of farm budgeting and gross margin analysis, assessed the role of agricultural extension agents in promoting their application, determined the level of commercial agriculture participation, and examined the relationship between the use of the two tools and commercial agriculture participation. A multistage sampling procedure was used to select 241 smallholder farmers from four Local Government Areas. Data were collected through a structured, pre-tested interview schedule and analysed using descriptive statistics, farm budgeting, gross margin analysis, benefit-cost ratio, and multiple linear regression estimated using the Ordinary Least Squares method. The results showed that farmers had a relatively high level of knowledge of farm budgeting and gross margin analysis (grand mean = 3.40), whereas their actual use of the tools was low (mean = 2.82), indicating a knowledge–application gap. Extension support was positively rated (mean = 3.38), although follow-up support remained limited. Commercial agriculture participation was relatively high (mean = 3.41). The regression model was statistically significant (F = 47.84, p < 0.001) and explained 58.3% of the variation in commercial agriculture participation. Farm budgeting (B = 0.286, p < 0.001) and gross margin analysis (B = 0.351, p < 0.001) were positively and significantly associated with commercial agriculture participation. The study concluded that strengthening practical extension support for financial planning and profitability assessment could enhance informed and market-oriented farm decision-making among smallholder farmers. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analysed mainly with frequencies and percentages, while ordered response-scale variables were summarised with appropriate scale-based measures. Cost of implementation was the most frequently identified factor influencing willingness (32.7%), followed by knowledge and information (28.4%) and resources (22.6%). Cost was also the dominant implementation constraint (54.7%), followed by uncertainty about the effectiveness of CSA practices (25.8%) and difficulty learning new techniques (19.5%). Most respondents (94.7%) reported receiving some form of agricultural or institutional support, although financial assistance accounted for only 13.7% of the reported support. Government extension officers were the principal source of agricultural information (55.3%), while government incentives or subsidies were the most preferred strategy for strengthening implementation (50.5%). Demonstration farms and farmer field schools were the most preferred learning approaches (32.6% each). The findings indicate that the central challenge is not simply awareness or willingness but farmers' capacity to convert willingness into practical action. Therefore, strengthening CSA implementation requires coordinated financial, technical, informational, and institutional support rather than awareness creation alone.","气候智慧型农业(CSA)作为提高农业生产力和增强农业系统对气候变率与气候变化适应力的方法，日益受到关注。
"W7213579850",[173,175,177,179,181,183,185
Folasade J. Yet awareness of CSA does not necessarily translate into actual implementation, particularly where farmers face financial, technical and institutional constraints. This study examined the roles of climate experience, agricultural information and socioeconomic characteristics in CSA adoption among smallholder farmers in southwestern Nigeria. Primary data were obtained through a structured cross-sectional survey of 190 farmers in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State. Descriptive statistics were used to characterise respondents and examine CSA awareness, agricultural information, experience of weather variability, willingness to adopt, reported adoption and perceived constraints. Because the adoption outcome was highly imbalanced, Firth-penalised logistic regression was used to identify factors independently associated with actual CSA adoption. The results show that 98.4% of respondents were aware of CSA and 96.3% reported experiencing changes in weather conditions. Although 96.3% expressed willingness to adopt CSA, 88.4% reported actual use, indicating an intention–implementation gap. Water-conservation technologies received the highest proportion of “very important” responses (83.7%), followed by organic manure (80.5%), drought-resistant crops (80.0%) and crop rotation (79.5%). Government extension officers were the principal reported source of agricultural information (55.3%). Implementation cost was the leading constraint (54.7%), followed by uncertainty about effectiveness (25.8%) and difficulty learning new techniques (19.5%). In the Firth model, experience of changing weather conditions was the only statistically significant predictor of adoption (OR = 10.401, 95% CI: 3.118–34.694, p < 0.001). Gender, education, farm size and extension information were not statistically significant. The findings indicate that CSA adoption in the study area is not adequately explained by awareness alone. Farmers’ direct experience of climatic variability appears to be an important stimulus for adaptation, while financial and technical constraints can restrict implementation. Climate adaptation policies should therefore move beyond general awareness creation towards practical extension, affordable inputs, locally relevant climate information and resource-supported implementation.","气候智慧型农业（climate-smart agriculture, CSA）日益被视为增强小农户耕作系统对气候变异性适应能力的手段。
"W7213578578",[215,216,217,218,219,220
"Akeem Adewole
,"2026-09-19T23:30:11.305594Z
2637,"Determinants of CSA Adoption in Coastal Bangladesh: An Application of Structural Path Analysis","https://doi.org/10.59978/ar04030018","Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is widely promoted to reconcile productivity, resilience, and emissions goals among smallholder farmers, yet adoption of capital-intensive CSA technologies remains low and uneven in climate-vulnerable coastal agriculture. This study examines socio-demographic, institutional, and behavioral determinants of CSA adoption among farming households in selected coastal districts of Bangladesh. This cross-sectional study interviewed 386 farmers from 3 selected coastal districts of Bangladesh following a multi-stage random sampling. Results were interpreted using descriptive statistics, Spearman’s correlation, adoption-difficulty (quadrant) analysis, and structural path analysis. Adoption levels varied widely across 30 CSA practices. Low-cost, knowledge-based practices such as raised bed homestead gardening, airtight seed storage, and heat and salinity-tolerant crops were widely adopted, whereas capital-intensive technologies such as poly-net houses, solar irrigation, and the sorjan method remained rare. Extension communication showed the strongest association with extension strategies for promoting CSA (β = 0.551), whereas strategies for promoting CSA, knowledge of CSA, and climate change perception were important predictors of CSA adoption. Importantly, the ICT usage had a negative relationship with climate change perception, indicating a digital paradox whereby the higher connectivity does not lead to a better understanding of the issues related to climate change. The research shows that there is a necessity for combined extension approaches based on face-to-face extension efforts, participatory learning platforms, and credible digital technologies combined with strong farmer organizations for increasing CSA adoption in coastal Bangladesh.","气候智慧型农业(CSA)被广泛推广，以期在小农户中协调生产力、韧性与排放目标，但在气候脆弱的沿海农业中，资本密集型CSA技术的采用率仍然较低且不均衡。 ,"Agricultural & Rural Studies","2026-09-16T00:00:00Z
"W7213241723",[251,254,257,259
Md. This study examined how small-scale farmers in Asa Local Government Area (LGA), Kwara State access agricultural extension services and the specific challenges they face. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining structured questionnaires administered to 120 randomly selected farmers with qualitative semi-structured interviews analyzed through thematic analysis. Descriptive statistics addressed the study objectives while a regression model tested the hypothesis on socioeconomic determinants of access. Utilization of extension services remains low despite their availability. Farmers rely predominantly on radio, television, and cooperatives for agricultural information. Advisory services and market information were most accessed, while training programs and workshops were least utilized. All reported outcomes, including improved market access and higher productivity, are farmer self-reports and represent perceived rather than objectively measured benefits. Inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and limited training are the dominant barriers. Educational level and farm size significantly and positively predict access to extension services. Strengthening financial support, improving rural infrastructure, tailoring training programs, and reinforcing cooperative networks are critical for advancing sustainable agricultural development in rural Nigeria.","农业推广服务对于帮助尼日利亚小规模农户提高生产力、促进可持续农业至关重要，然而结构和制度性障碍限制了其利用。
"W7212064262",[290,292,294
Dolapo Tawakalitu
Egbewole Halimah
Adesokan Jamiu
,"2026-09-10T23:30:07.595776Z"]
